Company Overview:

As a Survey Party Chief on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, you will assist the Project Survey Manager with various duties such as to be responsible for exact measurements and determines property boundaries. They will be in charge of site survey works on a particular section in the HRBT Project for its construction aspect as defined in the contract, and accepts liability for its correct execution within the framework of the approved budget, the overall QHSE regulations, the ethic chart and the general and detailed planning.

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45 diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.

Principle Accountability and Responsibility:

• Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, mapmaking, mining, land evaluation, construction, and other purposes
• Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
• Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
• Able to use properly the survey instrument and the programs
• Able to stake out points on site and measure on the field
• Control the works as far as setting-out is concerned
• Follow-up of the proper maintenance of survey equipment and materials
• Be responsible of its equipment and material
• Train the Assistant Surveyor / Chainman
• Use the main bench mark reference, as per the bench mark list
• Organize and manage his/her team
• Inform his/her Line Manager before calibration of his/her instrument
• Liaise directly with his/her Line Manager if any complain from the site
• Perform regular controls of the survey grids and closure accuracy
• Inform directly his/her Line Manager of any accident/incident

Education and Experience:

Required:

• Bachelors degree in Survey /Civil Engineering (or similar technical background)
• 5 years in Management experience on major civil/MEP/Architectural works Project

Strongly Encouraged:

• Previous experience in the US is a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Auto Cad software
• Professional Engineer Certificate (P.Eng/P.E./C.Eng) or equivalent – PE, VA is highly appreciated
