The Sr. Software Engineer, Web (Front-End) will play a pivotal role in the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of Vimeo's website and web-based applications. The role demands a high level of technical expertise to create sophisticated, optimized, and scalable front-end solutions that deliver a seamless user experience. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Senior Front-End Engineer will lead front-end initiatives, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the strategic direction of our front-end technology stack.

What you’ll do:

• Architect, design, and develop responsive, mobile-friendly websites and web-based applications with a focus on scalability and maintainability
• Lead collaboration with designers to refine and implement visually appealing, user-centric interfaces
• Write robust, clean, and documented code, ensuring long-term quality and maintainability
• Optimize websites for speed, security, and accessibility, adhering to Core Web Vitals and best practices
• Oversee and improve testing and debugging processes, ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility
• Research and integrate new web technologies, frameworks, and tools to keep the company at the forefront of front-end development
• Provide technical leadership in front-end development and guide the team with code reviews and mentorship
• Collaborate closely with back-end developers for seamless feature integration
• Manage complex projects, coordinating with project managers to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality products
• Influence and contribute to internal coding standards, development processes, and front-end strategy

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

• 4-7 years of experience in front-end web development, with a proven track record of successful project delivery
• Strong experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React.JS, with a thorough understanding of its core principles
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6 )
• Expertise in responsive web design, mobile-first development, and cross-browser compatibility
• Advanced experience with CSS preprocessors (Sass or Less); familiarity with Tailwind CSS is a plus
• Mastery of version control tools such as Git and familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment practices
• In-depth knowledge of web performance, optimization techniques, and best practices
• Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
• Outstanding communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities
• Ability to mentor junior developers and drive technical discussions
• Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding organizational skills
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Targeted Base Salary Range: $122,400 to $187,000

The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
