VILLAGE SOUTH INC is Hiring an Intake Coordinator Near Pembroke, FL

Position Summary:

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for performing initial intakes on clients who have been referred for services in the Dependency Drug Court program. Working relationships are established with judges, Office of the State Court Administrator, staff of state and local government, treatment professionals, and the public.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conducts psychosocial assessments in a criminal justice environment.
  • Determines the appropriate level of care for clients based on their risks/needs.
  • Completes all relevant admissions paperwork.
  • Provides the clients with an overview of the drug court program and its expectations.
  • Obtains collateral information pertinent to the treatment needs of the client.
  • Participates as an active team member.
  • Maintains proper documentation.
  • Respond to subpoenas as needed regarding assessments completed.
  • Assists with accessing appropriate community resources for clients or their respective family members.
  • Maintains relationships with referral sources as needed.
  • Attends shelter hearings as needed in order to facilitate referrals to Dependency Drug Court.
  • Attends client hearings in order to present assessment recommendations to the court.
  • Communicates with new referral sources and maintains a professional and positive relationship with Judges, defense attorneys, Department of Children and Families attorneys, court liaisons, etc.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Active licensure in the state of Florida as an LMFT, LCSW, or LMHC is preferred. Preference will be given to those candidates who are currently Certified

Education:

Master’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university in the field of psychology, counseling, or human social services.

Experience and Competencies:

  • a minimum of two years’ experience working with the dual diagnosed population is required
  • Travel may be required as needed to support program needs.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of the DSM-IV/V.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention if needed.
  • Ability to plan and prepare reports.
  • Ability to use a computer and word processing applications.
  • Understanding of the mental health system and the process of accessing substance abuse treatment in Broward County
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to have adequate language and people skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion concerning confidential information.
  • Ability to organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Knowledge of human behavior
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, recovery, and its dynamics
  • Knowledge of the current assessment tools for the substance abuse population
  • Knowledge and familiarity with substance abuse agencies and their requirements
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques, casework principles, and community resources
  • Knowledge of the dependency court system
  • Ability to identify the needs of the consumers
  • Ability to maintain accurate case documentation and prepare written information
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

  • CPR and First Aid Certification and an Annual TB

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or courthouse setting;
  • Outdoor activities and travel between multiple locations may be required;
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required throughout employment.

Essential Physical and Mental Demands of the Job

The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or

Physical Demands:

  • Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files).
  • Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
  • Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility.
  • The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee.

  • Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
  • Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions.
  • Requires the ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
  • Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in mentally/verbally abusive situations through the use of approved mental/verbal de-escalation techniques.
