Monitor designated streets, lots and other public areas within the Village to ensure compliance with parking laws and other local laws. Issue summons to violators of laws relevant to parking.
The position requires the ability to work alone and therefore the employee must exercise good judgment. Employee also must be able to interact with the public in a respectful, tactful manner.
Responsibilities:
· Issue parking summonses to violators of laws relevant to parking.
· Responsible for managing parking equipment maintenance needs.
· Learn and become familiar with the Village code, procedures, and standards.
· Patrol parking near schools during afternoon dismissal as needed.
· Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds (coins) or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Building Department Supervisor.
Qualifications:
· Must have a valid NYS driver’s license (class D or higher) with a current address in New York State, and an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass a background and drug test.
· Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
· Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
· Ability to understand and apply parking regulations.
· Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.
· Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
· Ability to walk for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift coin bags of up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to work in all weather conditions.
· Ability to observe, assess, and record conditions in parking areas/structures.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Familiarity with the geography of the area is a plus.
The Village provides training required by PESH and other trainings to ensure employee safety.
