TITLE: Seasonal GIS Staff

DEPARTMENT: Parks, Buildings and Grounds

DATE &TIME APPLICATION DUE: Open until position filled

STARTING SALARY: $18 per hour

DAYS AND HOURS: Up to 40 hours per week, 1000 hours year; Days, evenings, and weekends as assigned, flexible schedules

DUTIES: Under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks, Buildings and Grounds, the Seasonal GIS staff performs technical work involved with a Geographic Information System (GIS). Work involves analyzing, evaluating, developing, and applying GIS tools, databases, layers, shape files, and graphics. Assists and provides support to enhance, expand, and maintain the GIS of the Parks Department.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have completed one or more years of college coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related field.

• Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions, work well independently, and work in a safe manner.

• Must be extremely courteous and responsive to the needs of the public and fellow employees.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
• Must be able to accommodate a variable and flexible schedule, be reliable and arrive on time.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid IL driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare, collect, organize, and input data to maintain and enhance Villa Park’s GIS including field research and GPS data collection and processing.
• Assist in the creation, maintenance and data collection of multiple GIS layers including Parks asset inventory and field staff inspection reporting.
• Conduct field inspections.
• Assist with GIS and data analysis, prepare and execute queries, produce maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and other analytical products.
• Ability to work with documents in GIS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe/Nitro.
• Assists at Village events and with other Parks staff to perform miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
• Performs job responsibilities safely and in compliance with Village policies.
