Village of Rantoul is hiring for a full-time GIS & SCADA Systems Coordinator. Under general supervision, is responsible for overseeing the Geographic Information System (GIS) services for the Village of Rantoul, implements GIS best practices, standards, and production requirements, maintains QA/QC program for GIS data, perform GIS duties to support the Village of Rantoul, liaison for CCGISC, supervises Engineering Information Technician to support Public Work projects & GIS. Is also responsible for overseeing the SCADA System coordination, implements, and administers the Public Works Department"s electric, water and wastewater SCADA networks. This employee will perform routine SCADA duties including monitoring, program maintenance, and troubleshooting of all elements of the SCADA control and communications systems and the liaison for the SCADA consultants for all departments. Job Responsibilities
Manages Village GIS program for infrastructure, public safety, public facilities and real estate mapping. Assists other departments in the application of GIS. Designs GIS and related databases. Recommend the selection and purchase of necessary software and equipment
Develop and complete GIS standards and quality control procedures and scripts
Oversees, programs, and maintains "Map and Plan Inventory" database
Searches database and provides information to users
Compiles an index of these items from the database
Develop customized ArcGIS Online and Field Map Applications
Direct all work for each Storm Billing cycle
Assist with the coordination of projects and other tasks as required by Public Works Director
Gather information for GIS mapping; plans, coordinates, and conducts field survey work to include field collection and analysis of GIS data; researches existing utility systems and municipality records for pertinent design information
Creates GIS maps utilizing accepted cartographic practices and design
Provide technical support to CCGIS Consortium as a technical committee representative
Daily coordination of the Public Works Department"s electric, water, and wastewater SCADA networks
Perform routine SCADA duties including monitoring, program maintenance, and troubleshooting of all elements of the SCADA and control and communications systems
Work with the SCADA consultants to develop the solutions
Coordinates and oversees the duties performed by part-time Engineering Information Technician
Research, develop, and plan the implementation of new GIS technologies
Requirements
Knowledge of utility engineering and mapping principles
Excellent organization skills
Must be able to maintain and keep inventory of necessary records
Construct advanced spatial and tabular database queries
Familiarity with Python (ArcPy, SMTP, and other relevant libraries)
Knowledge of utility engineering and mapping principles
Proficiency with ESRI"s ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Online applications
Proficiency with ESRI GIS edit, topology, query, and annotation tools
Thorough knowledge of database design, data entry, and manipulation
Must be able to work independently and efficiently
Communicate with the Public Works Director if any problems arise Qualifications
Experience / Education - * Preferred Bachelor"s degree, with a concentration in Geography, GIS or a related field
GIS and SCADA experience may be considered a substitute for a Bachelor"s degree
Valid State of Illinois driver"s license
Excellent communication skills both verbally and writing
