Village of Rantoul is hiring a full-time Facility & Village Grounds Maintenance Foreman.

The Facility & Village Grounds Maintenance Foreman will perform daily operations and maintenance of all Village of Rantoul properties and facilities. Will also perform and supervise construction projects and capital improvement projects as directed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least four-years supervisory experience
  • Preferred experience in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing
  • Ability to read and interpret technical materials pertaining to grounds, maintenance, blueprints, journals, and manuals
  • Effectively communicate and present information
  • CPR/First Aid certification, if you currently hold one be willing to get one within 1 month of being hired
  • Preferred experience with a variety of hand and power operated tools and equipment
  • Able to lift/move at least 100 pounds
  • Preferred CDL, but not required
  • Must have basic math skills: adding, subtracting, fractions, multiplying, and dividing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to obtain a pesticide license within 6 months of being hired

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Help train, schedule, hire, evaluate, and discipline part-time/seasonal Facility Grounds Maintenance staff
  • Ensure you and your staff are abiding by the Village of Rantoul policies and procedures at all times
  • Conduct yourself in a positive, professional manner at all times
  • Ensure you and your staff comply with all safety requirements
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, perform, and supervise the maintenance and operations of all Village of Rantoul properties and facilities
  • Prepare purchase orders for materials and equipment as needed
  • Maintain records and reports of all work orders, activities, maintenance, etc.
  • Coordinate work activities with other departments as needed
  • Perform and supervise the application of fertilizers, insecticides, and other chemicals
  • Perform brush collection and leaf pick up as need
  • Help with snow removal when needed
  • Supervise and help with the mowing, string trimming, debris removal, and trash collection
  • Ability to take initiative and apply considerable ingenuity and practical knowledge to interpret and resolve new, unusual, or particularly troublesome situations
  • Help prepare annual maintenance budget
  • Perform indoor maintenance to our facilities as necessary such as remodeling, painting, and repairing
  • Research and recommend purchases, order materials and supplies, develop a cost-effective maintenance procedure and monitor expenditures
  • Maintain an excellent public relation
  • Perform and supervise mowing (including all park land), tree and hedge trimming, and other landscaping maintenance, spraying of fence lines and properties, winterization of any restrooms, irrigation systems, and other exposed water lines
  • Communicate with Recreation Assistant Director on any issues that arise
