VILLAGE OF PINECREST is Hiring a Recreation Aide Near Florida, FL

Performs maintenance and custodial duties and is responsible for the safety and supervision of participants in Village coordinated functions within the Community Center and athletic field.

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

  • Performs general maintenance and clean up duties such as the emptying of trash, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, wiping down tables and chairs and other furnishings, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, and cleaning restrooms.
  • Performs manual work in semi-skilled jobs involving maintenance, repair of buildings, grounds and construction, including pressure cleaning, graffiti removal, painting and other related tasks. 
  • Greets visitors in a friendly and sincere manner; assists general public, in person and on the telephone by providing general information regarding the Community Center’s programs and events.
  • Performs concession and cashier duties including sale of retail products. Performs cash and credit card transactions.
  • Operates recreation software to perform membership, class and program registration.
  • Assists with the coordination of recreational activities and programs, including setting up and cleaning of rooms for recreational activities and party rentals.
  • Enforces safety and other department rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Specialized training/experience as a camp instructor, teacher, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to establish good customer relations. Must have an ability to deal with people effectively, courteously and enthusiastically.
  • Must have knowledge of materials, methods and equipment typically used in recreational work and clean up duties.
  • Must have knowledge of basic rules of safety and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations.
  • Must have the physical strength and agility to perform assigned tasks, which include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting and carrying.
  • Must maintain high ethical, honesty and moral standards. 
  • Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus. 
  • Must be a non-smoker.
  • Applicants must complete all requirements established by the Village of Pinecrest for employment. This may include, but not limited to, a written examination, typing test, psychological screening to determine suitability for position, polygraph examination, comprehensive background investigation, and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
  • The minimum qualifications may be waived by the Village Manager. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a licensed driver status in the State of Florida.
  • Ability to become CPR and AED certified.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple, oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to perform several tasks at one time. 
  • Ability to follow safety and other department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and meet department goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters and exercise discretion. 
  • Ability and responsibility to effectively work independently, exercise discretion and independent judgment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the execution of duties.
  • Ability to get along with others and work effectively and courteously with fellow workers, officials, other agencies and the public.
