The Village of Palatine Police Department is seeking a part-time Community Service Officer in the Records Division.

Job Description : This position is responsible for :

• Reviews and redacts video / audio from Body Worn Cameras (BWC) while ensuring release is in accordance with federal, state, and local statutes and established policies and procedures
• Assists personnel in locating and providing video files for court
• Ability to obtain Freedom of Information (FOIA) certification within (30) days
• Respond to FOIA requests within the required timeframe while ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act
• Answering citizen inquiries, both over the phone and in person, with an emphasis on extensive customer service
• Perform extensive research within the Records Management System to properly respond to background checks, DCFS requests, employment checks, etc.
• Prioritizes workflow while monitoring newly assigned tasks
• Provides information / support to team members

Qualifications :

• High School diploma is required.
• Must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires a strong work ethic.
• Bilingual and / or previous law enforcement experience a plus, but not required.

Salary : $24.42 per hour.

Hours : For year 2024, duty hours will 11 : 30AM - 4 : 30PM working 5 hours per day, for a total of 25 hours per week.
