Village of Orland Park is Hiring a Police Officer (Part-Time) Near Orland, IL

Join the Village of Orland Park’s award winning Police Department as a Part-Time Police Officer. The Police department is one of the most visible Village departments and works to keep the Orland Park community safe and oversees the enforcement of laws and ordinances. 

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the performance of responsible, protective service work in the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime while actively promoting and directing citizen involvement in these efforts.

The ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instruction, exercise initiative and discretion in emergency situations, use firearms, make decisions based upon department policy and training, deal with the public in a tactful manner, and communicate orally and in writing are necessary to perform this job.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualified applicants must have a valid IL driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED and at least two years or sixty hours of study at an accredited college or university. Additionally, this position requires the ability to successfully complete, on a semi-annual basis, the Power Test established by Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as required by department policy.

Active law enforcement service within the past 5 years at time of application is highly preferred. 

ONLY APPLICANTS who HOLD A CURRENT, VALID STATE Certification of Law Enforcement Officer, in accordance with ILCS 50/705, WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Preferred qualifications include thorough knowledge of the goals and objectives of the Orland Park Police Department, laws and ordinances of the Village, State, and federal governments.

Hours: Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends. Approximately 16 - 29 hours per week.
