JOB DESCRIPTION: Fiscal Officer, Village of Middleport, Ohio

POSITION TITLE: Village Fiscal Officer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training in accounting, finance or a related field is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Ohio’s Uniform Accounting Network for fund accounting is desirable.
• Must pass a criminal background check, driver’s record check, drug screen and provide character references.

HOURS AND RATE OF PAY: The Fiscal Officer is a part-time position of 16-24 hours per week, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position. Rate of pay shall be $15-20, determined by experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Fiscal Officer is required to perform in a competent and timely manner to comply with all accounting, payroll, record keeping and reporting requirements related to the Fiscal Officer’s duties in village government, including but not limited to:

• Receiving, depositing and recording all revenue transactions
• Recording all purchase orders and expenditures
• All payroll transactions, including wages and the timely filing of payroll tax related requirements
• Administration of local income tax
• Payment of all debts in a timely manner
• Administration of all Bureau of Workers’ Compensation matters
• Administration of all liability, property and health insurance transactions
• Preparation and filing of all documentation required by the Meigs County Auditor
• Preparation and filing of all ballot related issues, such as tax levies
• Administration of all transactions associated with municipal projects, such as grant and loan applications
• Recording the minutes and attendance at Village Council meetings
• Organization and maintenance of all records related to and associated with the above duties.

SUPERVISION: The Fiscal Officer shall be under the general supervision and control of the Mayor, and shall have such other powers and duties as are prescribed by ordinance or by law and which are not inconsistent with the relevant laws of the State of Ohio.

RESIDENCY: The Fiscal Officer need not be a resident of the Village of Middleport.
