Position Title: Facilities Custodian

Department: Facilities

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Part-Time

Hours per week: 20 to 24 Hours

Reports to: Facilities Coordinator

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, this position performs a variety of routine unskilled and semi-skilled housekeeping work while maintaining the Village Hall, Sheriff’s Office and Public Works office in a clean and orderly fashion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Cleans and maintains all Village facilities; vacuums, mops, scrubs, sweeps, and/or buffs floors, cleans counter tops, windows, window sills, window blinds, doors, office furniture, ceiling air vents, walls and baseboards. Cleans and polishes furniture as well as picks up trash and recyclables collects/discards appropriately.

· Cleans immediate areas surrounding Village Hall remove and disposes of litter.

· Places hazard signs to warn public of possible slick floors.

· Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms.

· Checks and maintains proper levels of all restroom supplies.

· Monitors cleaning supplies and paper products; including toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap.

· Cleans microwaves and refrigerators monthly.

· Prepares board and/or community room for meetings and other planned activities.

· Operates and properly maintains all tools and equipment needed to perform the essential job functions and responsibilities listed above while adhering to all safety rules and practices.

· Responds to and interacts with employees and/others within and outside the Village in a courteous, professional and effective manner.

· Performs any related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Working knowledge of methods of cleaning and maintenance of Village office, building and facilities.

· Working knowledge of proper usage and handling of chemicals used for cleaning.

· Skilled in organization and time management to effectively perform job.

· Ability to carry out work assignments or instructions without immediate supervision.

· Ability to establish multiple assignment priorities.

· Ability to read labels and/or warning signs.

· Ability to read, comprehend and/or prepare reports and correspondence.

· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

· Ability to effectively deal with public in professional manner.

· Ability to effectively convey information.

· Ability to make accurate arithmetic computations.

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to work smoothly and cooperatively on a variety of procedures.

· Ability to effectively solve problems and exercise good judgment.

Minimum Requirements:

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Experience handling moderately heavy tools, equipment and supplies safely.

Special Requirements:

· Must possess a valid driver’s license.

· Ability to maintain flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.

Physical Activities:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the staff member is required to:

· Reach with hands and arms, use hand to finger, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.

· Sit, stand, walk.

· Talk and hear.

· Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operation computers and various pieces of office equipment.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

· Occasionally is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.

· May occasionally lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds.

Work scheduled outside of the office may be in hot, warm, cool and cold weather.
