Village Management Services is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Laguna Woods, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates hydraulic greens mowers, riding lawn mowers, small sod cutter, trencher, aerifying machine, triplex mowers and sand raking machines.
  • Works on tees, fairways and greens where these machines are used.
  • Prunes trees from ground level and operates spraying equipment, vacuums, edgers and electric trimmers.
  • Operates a trencher or similar public works equipment as the regularly designated crewmember operator.
  • Identifies underground utility lines and assists in planning trenching jobs.

Equipment Operator performs the following functions for the Relandscaping Crew:

  • Assists in landscaping tasks to ensure adherence to specifications and plan design; plants, cultivates, fertilizes and waters ornamental plants, shrubs, and hedges; trims trees and shrubs from the ground and on ladders; installs sod, waters and applies fertilizers and non-restrictive chemicals.
  • Operates and drives a variety of equipment. Assists with repairs and building of planters, mortarless wall systems, mortarless paver systems and damaged or obsolete landscape.
  • Regular attendance required. All duties performed on-site for the Community.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education development which produces the ability to read, write and apply common sense understanding of the carrying out of oral or written instructions. Some experience in operating light equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the following:

  • of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
  • of the operating characteristics of light to medium duty mower or public works maintenance and construction equipment.
  • of the field maintenance requirements of assigned equipment.
  • of the work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment and operations.
  • to make minor operating adjustments and to recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment.
  • to perform manual work requiring physical strength and stamina appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • to read and write work-related job instructions in English.
  • to work effectively with other employees.
  • to maintain simple records.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • of a valid California Driver’s License.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.42 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
