Assists with and Conducts field inspections, documents daily construction progress, completes inspection reports for erosion control and quantities of materials constructed and installed.
Communicates with contractors and engineers regarding construction projects.
Maintains a daily record of work performed.
Coordinates street and utility work in the right-of-way with Village staff, private utilities, the WDNR, and residents.
Updates construction drawings, based on survey data, prepares as-built record drawings of completed construction projects for utilities.
Uses the Village’s Geographic Information System to update and maintain records.
Performs data collection for public works projects.
Receives and attempts to resolve complaints and problems from residents related to Village projects,
Inspects and closes out permits issued by the Engineering Department
Prepares base drawings, including zoning and ordinance maps\
Maintains and updates records for streets, stormwater and utility systems, maps, drawings and plans.
Inspects public works construction projects to ensure work is completed according to the specifications and plans. Coordinates work with contractors, maintains contact with residents, coordinates testing, field measures the completed work, reviews and recommends change orders. Maybe required to work late and or after hours, typically for asphalt paving and concrete construction observation.
Assists with the issuance and oversite of Village permits, including inspection of completed projects when needed; coordinates with property owners, utility companies and contractors to track permit status.
Leads and attends pre-construction meetings.
Assists with the routine preparation of the mileage map and report.
Assists with the updates and maintenance of the Public Works webpages.
Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
An associate degree in civil engineering is preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in municipal engineering or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in construction of streets and highways, sanitary sewers, water mains, stormwater ponds and drainage projects along with other work pertinent to Public Works projects preferred.
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License or ability to obtain and maintain one required.
