Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing manages and directs resident care within the nursing department in-order to maintain resident standards of care and ensure that each resident functions at his/her highest level.
Responsibilities for a Director of Nursing:
* Coordinates resident care through departmental and appropriate staff committee meetings
* Ensures that staffing is adequate to meet State and Federal requirements
* Guides nursing department in adherence to all state and federal regulations
* Evaluates and disciplines nursing personnel according to HCF policy
* Supervises the maintenance of nursing and medical treatments and related services executed by nursing personnel
* Participates in the QA process
* Ensures availability of nursing supplies and equipment
* Assumes responsibility for maintaining his/her own professional competence
* Verifies that the nursing personnel have valid and current licenses as required by the State in which they work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State Board of Nursing. CPR certification recommended.
