Viking Engineering and Development is Hiring a Quality Inspector Near Fridley, MN

Summary/Objective

The Quality Inspector's role is to process RMAs and DMRs and maintain quality control in accordance with the Viking Quality System requirements. This role is a part of the shipping and receiving team which is part of the Supply Chain Department.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains a clean work area and utilizes safe working practices.
  • Nonconformance's creation and processing RMA/DMR's as appropriate.
  • Performs inspections as required.
  • Provides traceable verification by completing inspection documentation or other documents for all components, assemblies, and/or product lots inspected, as required by inspection documentation.
  • Maintains control of items in the inspection process.
  • Prepares necessary reports including documenting test results and other statistics.
  • Maintains accurate electronic inspection data using an established procedure and file naming conventions.
  • Retains hardcopy/electronic records including samples from inspections.
  • Places product, equipment, tooling or work activity on hold when appropriate.
  • Participates in team meetings as required.
  • Ensures all activities are in compliance with Quality System requirements.
  • Assists Receiving as needed
  • Work with Department Leads and Engineering on deviations and non-conforming parts.

  1. Accountable for accurately performing assigned label and pre-shipping verifications assuring they are complete and accurate with no attributable findings within allotted time frame.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work/days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Travel

This position will be expected to local vendors occasionally.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to interpret blueprints
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing quality control (desired)
  • 2 years of non-conformance and RMA processing

Software Experience

  • Previous ERP system experience
  • Microsoft Excel experience

Other Duties
