Biomedical Equipment Technician – Account Manager

VIKAND is the world-leader in providing medical and healthcare technology support to the maritime industry including vacation island destinations, off-shore energy, commercial shipping and fishing, luxury yachting, luxury residential ships, and cruise lines.

The primary role of the Biomedical Equipment Technician – Account Manager is to provide biomedical equipment support to assigned cruise line clients in an effort to maintain all medical equipment in proper, good working order.

Duties associated with this role include:

  • performing biomedical preventive maintenance and calibration visits onboard ships;
  • shipboard biomedical repairs;
  • remote technical support;
  • shop-based calibrations and repairs;
  • management and coordination of calibrations performed by vendors/manufacturers;
  • management of biomedical preventive maintenance reports;
  • management of biomedical equipment assets
  • manage recalls for equipment
  • management and completion of work orders.
  • performing quality assurance inspections of biomedical equipment being sold to clients,

This position does require some travel locally, domestically, and internationally.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to safe operation of medical instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electronics and electricity including analog and intermediate digital electronics to test, calibrate, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment
  • Skill in the setup and use of standard and advanced level test equipment such as digital multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump analyzers and oscilloscopes in performing troubleshooting/repair and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ability to evaluate practical and technical information from manufacturers, contract specifications, manuals, and historical data to perform analysis required to make effective recommendations concerning operation, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment.
  • Ability to use application software and hardware as it relates to the operation and diagnostics of medical equipment.
  • Must have a valid US Passport or be eligible to obtain a US Passport
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Associates degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology or Biomedical Engineering Technology or in a related technical field such as Electronic Technology OR Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology OR Completion of a military training program in biomedical equipment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as Biomedical Equipment Technician, Field Service Engineer, Medical Equipment Repairer.
  • AAMI Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification not required but highly desired.
  • AAMI Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology (CABT) certification is not required but preferred. Must be able to take and pass the CABT exam within two years of employment with VIKAND
