Viewpoint School is Hiring an Athletic Trainer (temporary) Near Calabasas, CA

Viewpoint School is currently seeking a temporary Athletic Trainer from March 2024 to June 2024. The position provides direct collaboration and support to the full-time Athletic Trainers.

The Athletic Trainer position is a temporary, hourly, staff position. The duties of the athletic trainer include, but are not limited to, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified in the Domains of the NATA Certified Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer serves as a liaison between physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents. The athletic trainer ensures that players participate only when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed. The athletic trainer will coordinate with the Sports Medicine team and the Athletic Director to ensure staffing of the athletic training room and coverage for all required events.

Primary Functions:

  • Exercise supervisory responsibility for student athlete safety and discretion in making meaningful safety and health decisions
  • Provide first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention for students
  • Act decisively and prudently in emergency and life-threatening situations
  • Provide coverage at home events and practices
  • Conduct IMPACT testing, organization, and clearance for all teams
  • Develop and implement injury management protocols and emergency action plans
  • Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel and parents on injuries and status of student athletes under treatment
  • Maintain all forms, reports, and medical records and treatment logs related to athletic injuries, student rehabilitation, and CIF required athletic clearance
  • Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel on injuries and status of student athletes with severe injuries
  • Acting as liaison between coaches and athletes in injury matters
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and effective athletic training room
  • Occasionally travel with teams to away meets, events, and competitions

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Athletic Training or related field Current NATA BOC Certification NPI number required
  • Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the Athletic Trainers Board of Certification
  • Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and follow through skills
  • Post certification experience desired
  • Experience working with K-12 population preferred
  • Experience communicating with high school level parents, administrators, and coaches
  • Experience in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in Magnus Student Medical Record Database (SMR) and SportsWare (or similar record keeping programs)
  • Employee must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, must be able to climb stairs, and navigate uneven terrain and hillside pathways, must be able to carry equipment, and must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.
  • Flexible and adaptive

Compensation: Anticipated compensation is $40 per hour depending on experience
