Victory Programs, Inc. is Hiring a Recovery Support Specialist- SUNDAY ONLY Near Boston, MA

The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for assisting with program operations and safety, as well as managing clients’ medications. Victory Programs’ Recovery Division provides residential settings that address substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health concerns, and other chronic health conditions. The Recovery Support Specialist supports the program by ensuring that quality direct care services are provided to the clients. The Recovery Support Specialist reports to the Program Director for regular supervision and assignments.
Location: Victory House, in Boston’s South End, provides residential treatment programs for men dealing with substance use disorders. Our four-to-eight month program can accommodate up to 24 residents and has a long history of providing treatment to individuals. A welcoming environment for men of all cultures, Victory House is also a long-time leader in providing substance use disorder treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Essential Functions:
  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy of Care at all times including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.
  • Provide quality, empathetic customer service to the clients in the program.
  • Ensure that when clients take medication, all policies and procedures are followed for assisting and monitoring the clients’ self-administration of medication.
  • Responsible for medication documentation, including: counting controlled medication, documenting incoming medication and medication removal, signing off on medication as it is taken by the clients.
  • Provide milieu coverage, including: maintaining and assessing the integrity of the program’s therapeutic milieu, empowering clients to act in accordance with guidelines in the program; conduct rounds; answer phones and front door; and other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures related to maintaining a safe and appropriate residential environment are followed. This includes ensuring that the facility is safe, clean, and in a good state of repair; that fire escape routes are free of obstacles; and reporting facility concerns.
  • Input client/program data in Electronic Health Records.
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate client groups and complete required group facilitation documentation.
  • Provide referrals as needed.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Participate and support the agency in program events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, rallies, walks and any additional functions.
  • Perform any other duty or task that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor or their designee.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Ability to engage with clients in an instructive, directive, and compassionate manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex and drug cultures, age groups, religion, country of origin, disability and economic status.
  • CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Complete TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Three work related references, at least one from a supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the field of addiction or mental health.
  • Knowledge of the addiction recovery process or willingness to acquire it within the first six months of employment.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Position Type: Sunday 7am-3pm (8 hours)
Rate: $21.63 hourly
