Overview

To ensure that soiled clothing/linens are washed, dried, separated and returned to proper locations.

Responsibilities

• Sort clothes for washing
• Wash dirty clothes
• Dry clothes
• Fold and hang cleaned clothes
• Sort clothes for each resident
• Take clothes clean folded/hung clothes to resident's room and hang them in the closet or place them in the dresser.
• Wash and dry towels and linens, fold and place them in linen closets on each hall.
• Mark and give out unclaimed clothes.
• Mark clothes for new residents.
• Sweep laundry room floor daily.
• Clean lint filters after each use daily.
• Collect empty hangars from residents rooms daily.
• Ensure area is neat and tidy at all times.
• Work to maintain the self-respect, personal dignity and physical safety of each resident.
• Work cooperatively with all other staff and relate favorably to residents, their families and service providers.
• Know all emerygency procedures and be able to apply then at all times.
• Be familiar with Residents' Bill of rights adn assist residents in exercisiing those rights.
• Notify the Shift Director of any concerns of neglect/abuse/exploitation by other staff.
• Participate in quarterly fire drills.
• Complete any trainings as needed per job requirement
• Perform all other duties as needed by circumstance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
• Must be able to Lift, Push, or Pull minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift above shoulders, stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must have no substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
• Must have a clear SBI and DMV record and maintain them during period of employment.
• Must have a two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test).
