Victoria Independent School District is Hiring a Part-time Intervention Teacher - RLA Near Victoria, TX

Employment Days: 145 Days (9/5/2023 - 5/1/2024)

Weekly Hours: 15 hours

Pay Grade: Hourly Rate $26.50

Primary Purposes:

  • Work with the classroom teacher to provide supplemental
  • Implement appropriate interventions in collaboration with school

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate 

Letter of Acceptance from Educator Prep Program and Ability to Obtain Intern Certification Within One Year for Subject and Level Assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to engage students in meaningful learning

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of subjects assigned

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Deliver supplemental intervention and enrichment lessons reflecting accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  3. Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements
  4. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  5. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits
  6. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal testing

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social and emotional development of students.
  2. Be a positive role model
  3. Manage student behavior in accordance with district and campus expectations
  4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Other

  1. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  2. Comply with state, district, and campus regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Collect data and create reports or other required
  4. Maintain Confidentiality
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
  6. Work collaboratively with others.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and moving of small equipment.
