Victor Community Support Services is Hiring a Child Family Specialist/Family Support Counselor Near Fairfield, CA

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Child and Family Specialist/FSC has responsibility for providing support services to individuals and families as identified in the designated site and/or individualized plan. Specifically, this job is to work in a therapeutic preschool setting in the Care Clinic. Must be available 8-2:00 pm Monday through Friday (this is a full-time position that, Care Clinic runs Monday through Friday 8:30-12:30).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides individual and family support services in accordance with the individualized plans. Services may include: providing referrals, advocacy and support to individuals and families (clients), linkage and case management services, support groups, educational services and support, transportation, home management assistance, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions and management, etc.
  2. Able to effectively engage and develop relationships with appropriate boundaries with assigned clients.
  3. Effectively manages a flexible community based schedule.
  4. Completes all required documentation according to Agency and site standards within required time constraints. These may include: client contact forms, CANS, service activity summaries, data tracking, daily progress notes for all mental health services provided, mileage documentation, and other administrative duties, etc.
  5. Is an active member of assigned treatment teams. Assumes assigned responsibility within the team in accordance to site needs which may include operating effectively within a Teaming Model and act as a liaison with other community agencies and resources.
  6. Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients, if applicable.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Must possess a high school diploma/GED and two years’ experience working with children, youth, adults and/or families.

POSITION/SITE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must possess a valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency’s Personnel Policy: Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  2. Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency’s Personnel Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
  3. Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  4. Must be willing to work within a culturally integrated workplace, and be willing to respect human differences based upon protected classes as defined by state, federal and local laws, or any other condition that distinguishes people from one another.
  5. Must be flexible to work nights and weekends/on-call, may need to work a split-shift, varying schedule according to operational need.
  6. Must obtain First Aid Certification. Must obtain a CPR Certification (only when required by local county or site).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Have an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in a residential, office or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching balancing and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  2. Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
  3. Physically able to perform CPR and First Aid as trained.
  4. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle for traveling to recreational activities, home visits, DCFS and court locations which may be up to 100 miles driving distance.
  5. Requires the ability to utilize computer and telephone systems, which includes the coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands and fingers for typing, writing and working with files.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous experience working within a MediCal certified site, and familiarity with
MediCal billable standards and expectations.
2. 60 units of college, or four years’ experience, or Bachelors’ degree.
3. Skills with regard to engaging and working with parents as partners and in working
successfully with a strength-based approach.
4. Crisis and case management experience is helpful and desired.
5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
6. Previous experience working with the public and government agencies

7. Previous experience working in a daycare setting
