Bioinformatics Scientist/ Data Scientist

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist for our Chemical Biology (ChemBio) group. The ChemBio group is responsible for the production & analysis of data to aid in the design and optimization of novel bifunctional DUBTACs for protein stabilization. This analysis is performed via proteomics investigations and informatic inquiry. This position will work cross-functionally to help the ChemBio team ingest and understand the data from other departments via building user-based interfaces for the visualization of complex data. The creation of end-to-end pipelines for faster processing, quality control and automation of common procedures associated with this role will be essential to support company growth. These efforts will be primarily cloud based and supported by the candidate and their manager. This position will also assist with IT responsibilities for the entire organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the team to process data, extract meaningful interpretation.
  • Aid in the development of visualization apps to show results of complex experiments.
  • Implement and maintain robust code for pipelines and automation workflows
  • Create databases from new and existing datasets.
  • Integrate databases into common workflows for later automation and statistical learning.
  • Cross-collaboration between departments and external contractors to achieve needs of project goals.
  • Support larger IT infrastructure and daily demands
  • Help identify bioinformatics needs within the larger team
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the company and bioinformatic needs.

Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Maths/Statistics or related subjects.
  • 1-2 years of industry experience in either proteomics data analysis, Chemoinformatics or big data analysis and creation of visualization applications, pipelining workflows and good data/programming practices.
  • Experience in Python or R both preferred.
  • Experience with large interacting datasets.
  • Knowledgeable in databases and use of SQL
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and containerization. Azure familiarity is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with robust training, testing and validation of statistical models
  • Comfortable with Linux command line interface and able to write simple scripts in bash.
  • Learning based and open to new concepts and science.
  • Experience with proteomics and or dealing with large 3D data structures and computing statistical measures on the data is highly valued.

Expected Salary Range: $110,000-$135,000 (Compensation and leveling will be commensurate with experience and expertise and could fall outside of the stated range)
