Job Function Reporting into the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will be based out of Houston, TX and will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety. Responsibilities Coordinate and support the implementation of the EHS program. Develop and maintain an effective system for documenting and communicating EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines. Collaborate with plant managers and supervisors to identify and address EHS concerns and develop appropriate solutions. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments to monitor compliance with EHS regulations and internal policies. Track and analyze EHS data, including incident reports, near-miss incidents, and safety performance indicators, to identify trends and implement corrective actions. Stay up to date with local, state, and federal EHS regulations applicable to our industry and ensure compliance. Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary permits, licenses, and certifications related to EHS activities. Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, and provide necessary documentation and reports. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, ensuring they are well-informed about safety procedures, regulations, and best practices. Organize and conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and workshops to enhance safety awareness and engagement. Collaborate with HR and site managers to integrate EHS requirements into onboarding processes for new hires. Lead and facilitate incident investigations to determine root causes, contributing factors, and preventive measures. Prepare detailed incident reports and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain incident records and conduct trend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement. Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans and ensure employee preparedness. Required Experience High school diploma/equivalency 2-5 years of practical experience in on-site floor safety. Proven experience in EHS coordination or related roles within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization. Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in using EHS software and other relevant tools. Preferred Experience Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) are preferred.
