Vibrant Health is Hiring a Dental Outreach Patient Services Representative Near Kansas, KS

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Supports outreach dental hygienist in delivery of dental treatment with USD 500 school district and Vibrant Health community partners; Tracks oral health data for reporting to CDC, KDHE, and grant funders; Assists in transportation of portable dental equipment; Serves as in-clinic patient service representative when dental outreach is not in session.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Dental Outreach Coordination

  • Works with school nurses and community partner points of contact to schedule dates for dental outreach services
  • Obtains consent forms for dental outreach services, enters patient information into electronic medical record, and determines amount of time necessary at each site
  • Verifies insurance status and eligibility of all patients seen for dental outreach services and inputs this information into the electronic medical record
  • Ensures timely flow of patients in the school district by identifying the next patients and working with the school nurses to obtain the students from their classes
  • Maintains records of patients seen for reporting purposes and continuity of care of dental patients seen at outreach sites
  • Records decayed, missing, and filled teeth in electronic medical record based upon verbal instruction from outreach hygienist or dentist
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Maintains outreach dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, and compiling a supply order list
  • Assists dental team in generating dental encounters/improving fill rate by concerted efforts to call recare patients, medical to dental referrals, and patients with a probable caries diagnosis identified through dental outreach
  • Assists with and monitors patient flow when at Vibrant Health; receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters, clinic business, and patient care
  • Other tasks as identified and delegated, within Kansas Dental Board scope of practice restrictions

Patient Service Representative

  • Responsible for registration of patient prior to visit and/or upon arrival, including entering demographics, insurance verification, scanning and document preparation, updating documentation and processing of referrals/orders/appointment requests
  • Collects copays and self-pay balances
  • Point of service paperwork, acquire signatures and scan to chart
  • Explains facility policies and ensures patient and/or advocate understands and signs the consent and insurance forms at the appropriate time. Clear and accurate documentation should be entered on the appropriate forms and keyed into the computer system
  • Complies with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules and regulations. Completes MSPQ as required for admission
  • Scheduling of activities, including patient appointments, procedures and/or ancillary services using extensive knowledge of appointment types, locations, providers, and specialties
  • Will float to centralized scheduling environment or other practices with critical staffing levels as needed and delegated by management
  • Responsible for check in/out and phone reception as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • High school diploma or GED certificate

  8. Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community resources
  9. Hold current drivers' license and reliable transportation.
  10. Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community.

Work under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child/Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
