POSITION SUMMARY:VIA Motors is looking for an enthusiastic engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. This is your
opportunity to join our growing team and be involved at the forefront of electric vehicle technology
development.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:- Perform Model-Based Systems Engineering activities for vehicles, subsystems, and components:
o Implementation of requirements, traceability, and generation of requirements documents
o Modeling of system structure at all levels
o Modeling of system behavior at all levels
o Modeling of system parametrics at all levels
o Model maintenance and continuous improvement, including coordinated changes
- Work closely with internal teams, engineering service providers, and tier 1 suppliers
- The successful candidate will potentially lead and participate in all steps of the System design Vcycle:
o Requirements elicitation, analysis and decomposition following a top-down System design
approach

o System architecture design
o Coordination with internal element development teams and external suppliers to ensure
elements integrate properly with the rest of the system
o Planning and supervision of integration and qualification testing (e.g. Model-in-the-Loop
(MiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), test bench, in-vehicle)
o Processing and analysis of field data gathered on development benches and/or in-vehicle
- Interact with technical partners, customers and suppliers as needed
- Work within a well-defined process, and participate in including toolchain procurement, evaluation,
selection, and deployment
- Provide technical coaching and mentorship to junior team members.
- Develop and document new processes for Systems Engineering and MBSE to increase its
effectiveness within VIA
- Actively and diligently document work activities within VIA’s task management system
- Provide inputs to project planning activities as needed
- All work is peer-reviewed within the team. The successful candidate will be expected to review the
work of others
- Actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
- As agreed to with team manager, take leadership role as needed by the team in any of the aspects
above where the successful candidate has the right combination of knowledge, experience, and
interest
- Other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (System, Mechanical, Electrical,
Software, Mechatronics, etc.).
- At least 7 years (10 preferred) of directly-related experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), the Systems Modeling Language
(SysML) and associated tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, etc.).
- Experience with top-down systems design methodologies and standards (e.g., Automotive SPICE,
CMMI, DO-178B, etc.).
- Electric (EV) and Hybrid-Electric vehicle (HEV, PHEV) systems development experience a strong
asset.
- Experience with a Requirements Management tool (e.g., Enovia, Rational DOORS, PTC Integrity,
Visure Requirements, etc.) a strong asset.
- Experience participating in / leading typical system safety and reliability analysis techniques (e.g.,
DFMEA, FTA, etc.) a strong asset.
- Experience with ISO26262 Functional Safety standard and analysis techniques (e.g., HARA, ASIL
Decomposition, etc.) an asset.
- Experience with emerging safety analysis techniques (e.g., STPA, FMEA-MSR, etc.) an asset.
- Familiarity with automotive MCD tools (Measurement, Calibration, and Diagnostics) such as
CANalyzer, CANape, CANdela, etc. an asset.
- Familiarity with automotive networks and tools such as CANoe, CANdb , etc. an asset.
- Experience with Model-Based Design using the Mathworks toolchain (e.g., Matlab, Simulink,
Stateflow, Embedded Coder, Simscape, etc.) an asset.
- Experience with additional powertrain and vehicle simulation tools (e.g., GT Suite) an asset.
- Experience working on/managing international projects and global teams an asset.
