VGM Group, Inc is Hiring a VP - Operations Excellence Near Waterloo, IA

VGM Fulfillment is national leader is CPAP machine and resupply order fulfillment. As an employee-owned company, every person at VGM has a personal stake in seeing business succeed. We do this by taking responsibility from our customers for the key operations of order fulfillment: picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management. Our network of fulfillment centers is strategically located throughout the United States providing coverage to all 50 states. This role needs to be present onsite at our warehouse location in Waterloo, Iowa.

Working Hours: Full-Time

Summary
: The VP of Operations Excellence will be responsible for procurement, inventory & capacity management, safety, operations design & optimization, and continuous improvement for VGM’s Fulfillment division. This position is pivotal in identifying and implementing a range of optimization, automation, and centralization, aimed at enhancing the overall operational effectiveness of VGM Fulfillment operations. This includes leading cross-functional teams to diagnose organizational effectiveness issues, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and develop impactful implementation plans. The VP of Operational Excellence will oversee the Director of Procurement and Safety Manager within VGM Fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive operational excellence strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead year-over-year (YoY) improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost by delivering best in class operations design.
  • Partner with department heads, subject matter experts and operations leaders to evaluate and integrate cutting-edge technologies to improve project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operational excellence projects.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials, in collaboration with procurement and finance.
  • Interpret data to generate divisional strategies for implementation.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and safety measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Report on operational excellence updates to senior leadership and board of directors.
  • Accountable for executing main operations KPI’s in conjunction with leadership.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and attend industry events to stay abreast of new initiatives and ways to position VGM Fulfillment ahead of competition.
  • Identify, train, coach, and develop team members and leaders within the company.
  • Build key relationships with operations executives within the logistics, HME, and other industries served by VGM Fulfillment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry including Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field OR at least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Regular travel required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to assist with other departmental functions upon request. For weekend shift, cross-training will occur to support all warehouse initiatives.
