Position Name: Sr.R&DTechnician Position Summary: This role is responsible for planning and execution of laboratory scale experimental work in support of the developmental goals for the Plant Nutrients business. Primary tasks include benchtop chemistry, sample preparation and analysis, operation of specialty analytical equipment, and development of new testing methods. This position will also support execution of in-plant trials, non-conforming product testing, and non-routine data collection as needed to complete larger program goals.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop strong knowledge of R&D SOPs, good laboratory practices, and safety proceduresExecute benchtop (and larger) experimentation in accordance with existing proceduresParticipate in the development of new experimental procedures and testing equipment, in close partnership with staff scientists Complete detailed multistep procedures to ensure repeatability and accuracy with a high degree of documentation, curiosity, and observations Monitor performance data of Plant Nutrients manufacturing operations, including product quality metrics, trends, and relationships to nonroutine results Complete investigations into customer complaints, returned samples, and potentially non-conforming productsComplete project and task plans for integrated activities and seamless execution across team members and activities, including workflow of weekly baseline monitoring samples Positively contribute to the safe operation of a laboratory environment handling highly hazardous chemicals; use chemicals in accordance with safety datasheetsAnalyze results with a variety of industry standard and self-developed techniquesComplete data processing and reporting using established methods and software tools Basic Qualifications:5 years of experience in laboratory and/or chemical manufacturing environment requiredExperience reading technical drawings and writing procedures and work instructions strongly preferredHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree in science, engineering, or technical field preferredAdditional Qualifications:Ability to be self-directed in managing multiple prioritiesMust set a high personal standard for own performance and manage to those standardsStrong verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization and ability to work in a team environmentOpenly accept feedback from others by changing and modifying behavior Ability to think strategically and critically analyze detailsProficient in Microsoft Office
