Cardiology Licensed Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiology Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Cardiology Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will provide exceptional care and support in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in small animals. You will work closely with veterinarians, assisting in the management of cardiology cases and providing comprehensive care to patients. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, a passion for cardiology, and a commitment to delivering high-quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiology cases, including performing cardiac evaluations, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian, ensuring accurate dosage and appropriate delivery methods.
  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood work, radiographs, and cardiac ultrasounds, to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular conditions.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and surgeries, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Educate pet owners on cardiology-related topics, including disease management, medications, and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, organizing procedures, and managing inventory of cardiology-specific medications and supplies.
  • Collaborate with other veterinary technicians and staff members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary cardiology, attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs as required.
  • Adhere to all laws that govern LVTs in the state of Nevada.
  • Follow all policies in the employee handbook and present self in a professional manner, including appearance, communication, and attitude.

Professional Requirements:

  • Licensed by the state of Nevada as a veterinary technician.
  • Adhere to all laws that govern LVTs in the state of Nevada.

Skill Requirements (including but not limited to):

  • Proficient with computer use, EzyVet program experience is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills, good communication, and attention to detail.
  • Good phone etiquette with clients, referring veterinarians, and pharmacies.
  • Ability to acquire accurate radiographs.
  • Ability to perform a complete physical examination.
  • Proficient with blood draws (jugular, cephalic, and saphenous).
  • Accurate laboratory sample preparation and submission.
  • Excellent restraint skills for both canine and feline patients.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
  • Accurate filling of prescriptions and explaining medication to owners.
  • Knowledge of generic and brand names of commonly used medications.
  • Accurate administration of medication.
  • Strong math skills (drug and fluid calculations).
  • Ability and willingness to follow directions and assist with procedures.
  • Excellent IV catheter placement.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot IV catheters and lines.
  • Ability to place nasal oxygen catheters and administer supplemental oxygen.
  • Ability to perform CPR.
  • Understanding of and ability to administer anesthesia.
  • Properly attach anesthesia monitoring equipment.
  • Proper anesthesia monitoring and recording of data.
  • Attention to cleaning (all areas/patient cages).
  • Perform cystocentesis and urinary catheter placement.
  • Perform in-house laboratory tests.
