Position: Employment Navigator
General Description: The Employment Navigator is responsible for providing services to families and individuals in addressing barriers to obtaining gainful employment. These services may include staying closely connected with partner agencies and their employment related services, working in partnership with TANF Employment Providers, staying current about employment openings in the DC area and providing an appropriate level of guidance and support.
Principal Duties:
Qualifications:
Experience: One year of experience engaging with and conducting appropriate connections of individuals to employment or employment training services, conducting interviews and resume preparation, or building relationships with employers for the purpose of hiring VOTR clients.
Education: BA/BS in business administration, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling or related human service field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid driver’s license.
Other: Basic computer literacy and strong communication skills. Must have sensitivity toward the program’s target population and ability to comfortably and effectively relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds, and be respectful of cultural differences. Must be responsible, organized, non-judgmental, able to work independently and as part of a team. Employment Navigator must have a strong commitment to personal and professional ethics and standards and be able to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.
