The LPMHC's primary duties involve initial assessment and brief psychological treatment for Veterans with a wide range of co-occurring disorders, including but not limited to anxiety, PTSD, depression, substance use, as well as those with complex co-occurring medical conditions. The LPMHC is a member of an interdisciplinary MHC team and provides evidence-based individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to veterans.
The LPMHC applies psychological diagnostic methods and evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in their work setting. They have knowledge of psychological diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health as it impacts and is impacted by health related conditions that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines.
The primary job functions of LPMHC at this level include the provision of direct psychological patient care to Veterans in an outpatient general mental health clinic. The LPMHC for whom this functional statement applies is assigned to the MHC Team within the Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine Service at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS). This LPMHC does not have collateral research obligations or supervisory responsibilities.
