Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is Hiring a Tools and parts attendant Near St. Louis, MO

Summary Employee will serve as a Tools and Parts Attendant aligned within Environmental Management Service (EMS) located at the Veterans Healthcare System in Saint Louis, MO.

This announcement will support vacancies at both the John Cochran and Jefferson Barracks divisions, tracking and ensuring equipment utilized for housekeeping is in good working order.

Responsibilities Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following : Checks supplies assuring availability for housekeepers when needed.

Works with logistics to obtain out-of-stock items. Coordinates with supervisor to make sure sufficient amount of pad, stripper and finish is available for special projects that would utilize extra amounts of product.

Keeps supply rooms neat and orderly. Issues, repairs, and inventories tools, parts, and equipment in stock. Conducts inventories frequently to keep an accounting of equipment assigned to EMS.

Completes records of issue and turn-in. Uses hand trucks and dollies to move stock, as well as pliers, screwdrivers, and other simple hand tools to maintain and repair EMS / Housekeeping equipment (replace handles, change blades, greases and oils powered equipment, etc.

Enters electronic work orders for more complex repairs needed. Performs other related duties as necessary. Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 3 : 00pm - 11 : 30pm, may include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the service.

Qualifications PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS : Performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds.

Hand trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items. Work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Occasionally works in inside areas that are drafty and sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for.

Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success.

Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1).

Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration.

The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave : Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.

This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
