Versar is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Washington, DC

Position Summary

You will assist in the operation of global payroll operations including management of third-party vendors to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance, both domestic and international.

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now & Deltek CostPoint. Seeking a strong collaborator with demonstrated ability to work successfully with cross functional teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll cycles processing thought ADP WorkForce Now for both domestic and international locations ensuring pay accurate and timely processing.
  • Reconciliation of labor posting in Deltek CostPoint to ADP General Ledger Map File, liaising with the accounting department on any out of balance amounts.
  • Complete full cycle payroll processing for the assigned company codes.
  • Supervise and audit of personal leave, vacation, and sick leave balances and accruals in accordance with the company PTO/Vacation policy, Collective Bargaining Agreement or Service Contract Act.
  • Ensure Payroll recordkeeping meets organizational and legal requirements.
  • Confirm proper payroll deductions and taxation in compliance with federal and state labor laws.
  • Submit all 3rd Party post payroll payments in a timely manner such as payroll taxes, 401k deposits, FSA/HAS, Union Dues and Fringe/Health and Welfare payments.
  • Detect and reconcile any payroll discrepancies including communication to affected employees/managers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to discuss potential issues, impacts and solutions as they relate to payroll, accounting and/or taxes.
  • Assist with any audit related issues or requests.
  • Generate, create, and maintain reports related to payroll such as
  • Work with Payroll Director to ensure complete and accurate quarterly and annual tax filings, process accurate W2 records and oversee distribution.
  • Contribute to maintaining and updating the payroll processes, procedures and related workflows
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of US federal and state employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, McNamara O’Hara Service Contract Act, Fair Labor Standards Act; knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Ability to analyze data and make accurate math calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, calculating percentages, and similar functions.
  • Ability to quickly make decisions based on accurate and timely data analysis.
  • Capable of working under pressure of deadlines and able to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Intermediate Excel skills to include use of pivots and VLOOKUP.
  • Knowledge of project accounting concepts. Payroll/Timekeeping system experience preferred: Deltek CostPoint, ADP WorkForce Now.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Payroll to include union experience or an associate degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Experience processing Payroll/Timekeeping for 3,000 or more employees with a large multi-state or international employer preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
