Scope and Purpose of Position: Delivers the highest standards of patient care by assisting the coordinator and the optometrist with the operation of the patient care and by performing the following duties: Essential Functions: Completes training programs within established time periodsCommunicates with patients in a professional and courteous manner.Performs preliminary tests on patients prior to exam by optometristPerforms all duties required in an accurate, efficient, professional, and confidential manner. Maintains high standards of clinical hygiene at all times.Provides support to optometrist and office staff as directed, including processing referrals to specialists’ office, calling in medications and working with pharmacies to fill patient’s medications, and performs additional office duties as requested.Follows rules and regulations regarding employment laws, office policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with HIPAA.When needed, performs diagnostic testing, including visual fields, OCT, and retinal photos.
