Vermont State Colleges is Hiring a Food Equity Outreach Coordinator - Student Employment Opportunity (Workstudy Eligibility Not Required) Near Lyndonville, VT

Overview: The VTSU Campus Food Equity Initiative (CFEI) is seeking a motivated and organized university student to join our team as a Student Outreach Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for leading various initiatives aimed at supporting our community's food pantry program and promoting awareness of available resources. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our campus community is informed about food donation opportunities, educated about nutrition and budgeting, and equipped with essential cooking skills using pantry staples.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement outreach campaigns to solicit food donations from the local communities, faculty, and staff, especially before extended breaks when dining halls are closed.
  • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email newsletters, and campus events, to raise awareness and encourage participation in donation drives.
  • Collaborate with student organizations, academic departments, and administrative offices to maximize outreach efforts and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute educational programs focused on nutrition, budgeting, and cooking with pantry staples.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, such as nutritionists, financial advisors, and culinary experts, to design engaging workshops and seminars.
  • Create informational materials and resources to complement educational sessions and promote healthy eating habits and financial literacy among students.

  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva) and social media management platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Passion for addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy living.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Prior experience in event planning or community outreach is a plus.
