Vermont Literacy Network is Hiring a Workshop Facilitator Near Stowe, VT

Join Vermont Literacy Network as a Workshop Facilitator and contribute to our mission of promoting literacy and lifelong learning in the community. As a Workshop Facilitator, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering engaging workshops aimed at fostering essential literacy skills, critical thinking, and creativity in preschool to third-grade students, educators, families, and community members!

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop interactive workshops that cater to the developmental needs and interests of participants, focusing on literacy skills, structured literacy principles, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate locally with organizations, libraries, museums, and cultural institutions to enhance workshop experiences and provide authentic learning opportunities for participants.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, deliver engaging instructional experiences, and facilitate discussions and activities to meet the diverse needs of participants.
  • Anticipate and address the diverse needs of participants, including language support, accessibility accommodations, dietary restrictions, and health considerations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism; arrive early to workshops, set up materials, and ensure readiness for session delivery, incorporating time spent in preparation into the overall compensation
  • Participate in evaluation processes including observation, participant feedback, and self-reflection, to continuously improve workshop offerings and facilitation skills.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in education, literacy, early childhood development, or another field specific to the theme of your developed workshop; advanced degrees preferred. A Vermont teaching license is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children from preschool to third-grade students in educational settings, or equivalent experience in community-based programs, after-school programs, or enrichment activities.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of literacy development, instructional strategies, structured literacy, and the science of reading. Orton Gillingham trained/experienced preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement and engaging workshop filled with activities that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with community partners, educators, and workshop participants
  • Genuine passion for literacy education and commitment to empowering young learners to become proficient and enthusiastic readers and writers

Compensation

  • Hourly rate of $25-45 per hour based on education level and years of experience. This rate includes compensation for workshop preparation time
  • Reimbursement for materials and supplies used during workshop delivery based on workshop duration and number of participants
