The Business and Software Solutions (BSS) Technical Project Manager provides cross-functional project management across VEIC in support of VEIC’s mission with a focus on custom software projects. Works directly with Leadership/ Management on a variety of multi-faceted projects and initiatives that integrate business processes, data collection/storage, and software applications. Provides software product leadership within the team for one or more VEIC custom-built applications. Manages project timelines, resources, and overall delivery and works collaboratively in a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall project management for the development and maintenance of operational systems to support business operations, continuous improvement, and reporting needs.
  • Designs, delivers, manages and evaluates cross functional business projects and serves as the liaison between VEIC business units, Data and Technical Services teams, and leadership Develops project plans including schedules, resource management, communication plans, and deliverables.
  • Drives projects to completion with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and delivering on time and budget.
  • Provides leadership to teams on operational systems, efficient business process design, data integration, reporting, and data analytics projects; keeps participants focused with clear priorities and milestones.
  • Manages project intake process and works with stakeholders to develop scopes of work, project plans, gather requirements, and write documentation.
  • Manages medium to large size operational projects and coordinates project teams to deliver on defined timelines.
  • Provides product leadership and management of one or more VEIC custom built applications
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of a product vision and software roadmap for one or more custom built VEIC applications
  • Manages a collaborative stakeholder engagement process to ensure product roadmaps and prioritized backlog items are aligned with business needs
  • Oversees project teams and sets, delivers and communicates priorities, coordinating with other departments, teams and external vendors, as required
  • Facilitates meetings/trainings as needed for team and/or stakeholder engagement.
  • Works with Division leadership to continuously improve quality assurance systems and governance standards.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, and keeps stakeholders informed of project progress and issues.
  • Provides support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent of experience from which comparable skills were acquired.
  • At least five to seven years of experience providing project management and design or management of operational systems, or a combination of experience from which comparable skills were acquired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management methodologies including agile and traditional approaches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with change management methodologies like Prosci.
  • Understanding of software systems and integration, database management concepts and database systems.
  • Understanding of reporting and data analytics and their use to support business operations.
  • Understanding of principles of efficient process design and continuous improvement
  • Understanding of software development operations and agile development processes
  • General knowledge of standard office computer applications with strong competencies in MS Word and Excel or similar
  • Experience using project management and issue tracking software.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including ability to appropriately manage conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical and non-technical managers and staff in a team effort.
