Overview

Manages, coordinates, and develops the strategies, architecture, and staff necessary to drive innovative data analytics solutions for all support service customers. Leads the Data Analytics team in the development and delivery of high-quality application solutions, software infrastructure, and analysis services with the goal of improving current process efficiency, capitalizing on opportunities for innovation, and enabling new data driven insights and project implementation designs. Utilizes and promotes best practices for software development, data management, and data analysis. Responsibilities

  • Supervises and mentors Data Analytics team staff as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities include providing constructive feedback on an ongoing basis, collaborating to set work and professional development goals to maximize performance and quality, providing appropriate support in the case of performance problems, and staff recruitment and orientation.
  • Plans, sets, and maintains Data Analytics product vision and roadmap in alignment and collaboration with budget, department, and divisional roadmap, strategy, and goals. Sequences, prioritizes, and monitors team work based on roadmap to meet customer needs, budget, time, and/or quality objectives.
  • Implements, promotes, and documents Data Analytics work processes that align with DATS divisional processes and best practices, leading to the delivery of timely impact and value to customers.
  • Continuously improves team skills, knowledge, and work processes through mentorship and training opportunities.
  • Supervises, leads, and facilitates leadership in the solution development process, including all aspects of service, software, and data architecture; user requirements; user interface/experience design; testing/QA; maintenance; documentation; source code control; and release management.
  • As needed, designs, develops, documents, and maintains software and analytical solutions to derive useful information from available data sources, such as Smart Meter (AMI) data, submeter, and other sensor data, building operations and production data, weather data, etc. as part of VEIC’s custom software environment.
  • Continuously reviews and improves data acquisition, management, and analysis systems, applications, and tools as needed, ensuring quality and alignment with VEIC approach and industry best practices.
  • Participates and provides support on organizational projects.
  • Actively communicates with internal and external teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects, information, and ideas.
  • Delivers complex ideas in succinct manner to both internal and external stakeholders, in written, presentation, and/or demo forms.
  • Mentors, trains, and advises VEIC staff on data analysis software, tools, and techniques.
  • Provides support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, and/or engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience developing software, preferably including at least 4 years of direct experience with data-centric software development, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
  • Fluency in one or more programming languages, preferably Python and JavaScript
  • Demonstrated ability with most of the following or comparable systems with ability to learn quickly: Dash or similar web application framework(s), Snowflake cloud computing platform, SQL, Web API, Linux,
  • Strong proficiency with data mining, information retrieval, machine learning, and/or statistics; documentation of analysis procedures and functions; development of analysis and computational tools
  • Strong proficiency with data visualization concepts, software, libraries
  • Strong proficiency with data acquisition concepts, software, libraries
  • Strong proficiency with refactoring, unit testing, and other object-oriented programming techniques
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git or Subversion
  • Experience developing software frameworks and libraries
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to put together concise, articulate communications to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders to define and document project requirements
  • Experience in facilitation, reviewing work of others, communications, and the ability to develop and attain goals
  • Experience training technical staff in analysis techniques and software
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Skilled at knowing when to adapt to new challenges, processes, and innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, develop/implement, and adopt new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to be a productive member on a technical project-level team
  • Ability to mentor and cross-train developers and/or analysts
