Job Summary

2 - Second ShiftThe Engineering Technician I - Weld is responsible for welding coordination tasks, inspection, and print review for prototype machinery and ECN on current models. This position will suggest improvements to current production models and manufacturing processes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer Characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Perform NDT inspection, audits and weldments and review results with leadership.
3. Communicate new and unique ideas to improve Vermeer products and processes.
4. Conduct print reviews on engineering change notices (ECN) for new and existing weldments.
5. Provide on-the-job training to new welders and provide guidance to incumbent welders.Fill in for weld training specialists.
6. Perform root cause analysis to resolve warranty and/or Quality Notification Forms.
7. Document and record inspection and audit results, welder evaluations, print reviews, quality problem resolutions, and process improvement projects.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma.
- Technical School or skilled trade program in auto tech, diesel tech, industrial systems tech, ag systems tech or related field, preferred.
- Minimum 3 years previous welding, non-destructive testing, maintenance, tooling, or quality technician experience and/or job training.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of design guidelines, root cause analysis, trouble shooting and welding standards.
- Fundamental knowledge operating company products.
- Fundamental knowledge to safely operate tools and complete assigned processes.
- Fundamental knowledge of and skill in GMAW, FCAW, ACA, and OFC for both manual and automated processes.
- Fundamental knowledge of inspecting welding products against the appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.
- Actively works to build positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and co-workers.
- Developing verbal and written communication skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
Vermeer Weld Technician welder qualifications, required.
American Welding Society member, preferred.
