ABOUT US
Verbum Dei Jesuit High School is a Catholic, Jesuit high school located in Watts with an enrollment of approximately 320 students. Part of the Cristo Rey Network (CRN), VDJHS offers young men from supportive families of limited resources a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, integrated with a professional work-study experience, and faith formation that prepares them to graduate from college as “men for others” who serve their communities and pursue a more just and humane world for all.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Verbum Dei Jesuit High School, a member of the Cristo Rey Network, is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team. As an educator in our institution, you will have the opportunity to foster innovation and embrace project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches. If you are passionate about inspiring young minds, fostering critical thinking skills, and embodying the values of a Jesuit education, we invite you to join us in preparing our students for success in a rapidly changing world. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
Teachers teach five periods in a college-preparatory environment. This involves lesson planning, lesson presentation, student assessment, and individualized student support as needed. Teachers are expected to collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum and instruction. In addition, teachers are to establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, maintain appropriate and timely records of student progress, communicate with parents, and establish and maintain an effective learning environment for students. 
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Teachers are expected to participate in the school community, including co-curricular programs, exam proctoring, classroom substitutions, lunchtime supervision, and the school’s spiritual program – retreats, school-wide liturgies, and/or community service programs. 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in related subjects and experience teaching in a high school setting.
  • Desirable: Teaching credential, master’s degree, or related coursework.
SALARY
$51,422 - $98,567 (DOE)
