Verbio is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Automation Engineer, for its biomethane and ethanol production facility located at 59219 Lincoln Highway, Nevada, IA 50201.

About Verbio

This location is the site of the former DuPont cellulosic ethanol facility. At this site, VERBIO produces biomethane (renewable natural gas) from baled crop residues and ethanol from corn. Future growth will include an expansion of the biomethane process and retrofitting of the ethanol facilities.

Position Purpose

The Automation Engineer will work closely with Process Engineering and Production Team to understand where the deployment of control automation would help maximize value. Develop and maintain all aspects of the DCS & PLC platform with supporting networks. Define potential new technologies and participate in their development from proof-of-concept to execution. This is a full-time salaried position including health, dental, vision, 401(k), vacation and other employee benefits.

Essential Functions

• Work closely with Process Engineering and Production Team to deploy process control automation.
• Maintain DCS and PLC platforms.
• Implement process automation on DCS platforms eight by coordinating in small site-based teams working with leveraged resources and/or external vendors.
• Provide engineering support in operations area to troubleshoot, resolve technical problems, and identify root cause analysis of automated equipment.
• Utilize PLC software to enhance and troubleshoot machine function and capabilities.
• Identify and understand top losses and execute work to eliminate inefficiencies.
• Capability to develop, manage, execute, and start-up automation projects.
• Ensure that the gains achieved from process automation projects are sustained.
• Continually improve value from process automation by suggesting and/or applying other process control improvements through technologies and tools.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant technical experience OR 3 years of relevant industry experience in DCS/process control configuration.
• Experience with automation, process control, or other related manufacturing equipment.
• Leadership of team to develop, manage, and execute projects.
• Proficient use of computers and software (Microsoft Office, Rockwell, CAD, etc.) needed to support project development and execution.
• Capability to program and troubleshoot complex PLC, HMI, and components.
• ABB experience is a plus
