Job Description

QC Supervisor, Veranova L.P., (formerly known as Johnson Matthey Pharmaceutical Materials, Inc.) Devens, MA: Responsible for managing the Quality Control (QC) team, ensuring staff development, and timely support for manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance. Provide guidance to QC Chemists who perform testing of raw materials, intermediates, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), in support of process development and manufacturing. Develop, improve and revise SOPs, test methods, and other GMP documentation as needed. Participate in deviation and OOS investigations. Oversee QC projects ensuring timely completion with quality and within budget. Assure compliance of laboratory operations and contribute to laboratory organization including calibration, qualification, and re-qualification of instruments. Provide leadership to the group through effective communication, coaching, training, development, and ensure staff acts in accordance with Johnson Matthey policies and practices with respect to GMP, safety, and other related regulatory requirements. 

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field and 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or related role in analytical and quality control in the API development and manufacturing industry. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field and 5 years of work experience in the job offered or related role in analytical and quality control in the API development and manufacturing industry.
 
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in all of the following:

• FDA regulations and Quality Systems relevant to pharmaceuticals manufacturing

• Organic analytical chemistry techniques with emphasis on chromatographic methods, such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Ion Chromatography

• Chromatography software such as Empower or equivalent

 
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in all of the following:

• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ICH (International Code of Harmonization) Q7 

• Investigation management software, such as Trackwise or equivalent 

• Organic chemistry

• Nonchromatographic titration methods such as Karl Fischer (KF), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-VIS), Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Colorimetry (DSC) and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA).

 
Of the required experience, must have experience in supervising and managing staff in a Quality department.
