Job Description

Targeted Annual Pay Range: Minimum of $110,000.00 to a maximum of $130,000.00

POSITION PURPOSE: The Project Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager with the primary responsibilities of providing engineering support on various projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to all aspects of energy efficiency projects, including the design and construction phases.
  • Identify opportunities for improved energy performance and facility operations and generate low-cost retro-commissioning and capital solutions.
  • Identify inefficiencies and anomalies via analysis of building energy and systems trend data.
  • Instill confidence and gain facility stakeholder buy-in for implementing turn-key retrofits and RCx solutions.
  • Develop concept design, specifications, and detailed scope of work for energy projects.
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates for retrofit projects.
  • Thoroughly understand building energy system function and facility operation, focusing on optimizing sequences of operation and building energy performance.
  • Effectively manage, delegate, and influence stakeholders (including facility operators and BAS/HVAC service contractors)
  • Review subcontractor’s design documentation and submittals.
  • Analyze system energy performance and calculate the proposed solutions' energy savings, including life-cycle analysis.
  • Develop and execute EM&V plan.
  • Deliver performance, measured by ongoing energy reduction at the customer’s utility meter.
  • Prepare and present training materials and mentor junior-level engineers.
  • Provide QC on technical work performed by others within the energy management division.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role requires traveling to job sites roughly 25% of the time. 
  • Be able to climb up and down ladders.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

  • 10 years of experience delivering energy management and facility engineering services, experience in healthcare a plus.
  • 2 years’ experience in construction or project management
  • Experience with HVAC controls, operation, and design
  • Experience with chilled water & hot water systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar field.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Familiarity with major vendors of building control systems - programming skills a plus
  • Ability to communicate verbally and through concise memorandum and formal report writing.
  • Track record of successful management of high-value client relationships.
  • Whole-building energy modeling is a plus.
  • Programming skills in R or Python is a plus.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Professional Engineering License.
