THE NEED
OPEN OPPORTUNITY
To fill immediate vacancies at various elementary and K-8 schools in Ventura Unified School District, and to establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies.
The established list will remain in effect for one year. Work schedules and work days may vary from school sites.

THE POSITION Below is a summary of the basic function of the position and scope of responsibilities. BASIC FUNCTION Under the general supervision of the Principal, or designee, works within District and school policies to perform a variety of assignments intended to support the educational environment and school safety of elementary students (K-8).
These assignments include providing for the safety and welfare of students while on school grounds; monitoring personnel and / or visitors;
communicating information in response to inquiries; and providing assistance to support campus activities (i.e. device distribution, basic clerical assistance, assisting staff with ill students, light beautification projects, etc.
Positions within this classification are assigned to work at elementary or K-8 school sites. THE CANDIDATE
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
Some experience working with school aged children highly desirable. First aid and CPR certification highly desirable. THE DETAILS
TESTING INFORMATION
The examination process may be comprised of multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the
Step 1 : Application Screening (pass / fail) Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application, including work experience and the supplemental questionnaire.
If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the performance examination.
Upon qualifying, applicants will be notified by email the procedures to schedule their qualification appraisal interview.
Notifications will not be sent until after the closing date for the position.
Step 2 : Qualification Appraisal Interview (weighted 100%) tentatively scheduled August 11, 2022.
All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION
Step 1 : $17.37 (initial placement)
Step 2 : $18.36 (6 months)
Step 3 : $19.41 (1 year)
Step 4 : $20.52 (2 years)
Step 5 : $21.70 (3 years)
16.46% of base salary per year after completing 29 years of service.

INSURANCE
Available to employees who work at least 20 hours per week. Choice of PPO or HMO, Dental and Vision. Premiums paid by the District (includes employee and eligible family members) based on regular weekly hours worked :
20.00-29.99 hours per week; district pays 50% of benefits
30.00-39.99 hours per week; district pays 75% of benefits
40.00 hours per week; district pays 100% of benefits
HOLIDAYS
Approximately 14 paid holidays per year.
VACATION
Vacation is earned based on assigned hours. (For example : a new employee working 8 hours / day, 12-months per year will earn one vacation day per month, up to a total of twelve (12) days of vacation per
year. Employees who work less than 12-months per year or less than 8 hours / day shall be entitled to a prorated share of vacation benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Vacation earned increases with years of service with the district.
SICK LEAVE
The district provides for 1 day of illness leave per month worked, with unlimited accumulation for unused days.
