Venom Baseball of Illinois, LLC is Hiring an Assistant baseball coach Near Willowbrook, IL

You must include your baseball or softball coaching, instructing, teaching, playing experience, etc, in your resume! If you do not, your application will not be considered.

If you do not have it on your resume, please send a cover letter. We will NOT consider any candidate who does not have experience in coaching a team, instructing, teaching, clinics, camps, etc.

14U Assistant Coach Position. The 14U Head Coach is already in place.

  • This is a PART-TIME position ONLY.
  • Candidate MUST LIVE IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA! You must be able to drive to all practices, games & tournaments. If you live out of state or out of the country, please do NOT apply! Attendance is mandatory at all events
  • Practices are held in Bolingbrook. Our home field is Pleasant Dale Park in Burr Ridge. Away games are almost always within a short driving distance.
  • The 14U Season starts on 4 / 13 / 24. So, we are looking for someone who can step in and hit the ground running.
  • There are approximately 2 practices per week & 2 games per week. This does not include tournaments.
  • 14U will play in 6 tournaments. 4 are local and 2 are out of state. Out of state are : St. Louis & Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa.

Tournaments start in April

OVERVIEW :

We are looking for BASEBALL OR SOFTBALL players who can teach & educate players in a professional calm, yet exciting, effective manner.

One who can motivate players to work hard and turn them into the best players they can possibly be both physically & mentally.

This includes enforcing a hard work ethic of working not only in practices but also at home through drills, physical training, studying the game, etc.

Please note. We are a huge proponent of women in baseball as well as girls baseball players. We do have female players & coaches in our organization.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Some college-level playing experience. (exceptions can be made based on experience)
  • Experience in some or all of the following : baseball team coaching; instruction; teaching; clinics; camps
  • Leader - Teams need a leader and a positive role model, someone they can not only look up to but who would go to war for!
  • The understanding that Coaching & Teaching are the same thing. They are not separate.
  • A calm teaching approach can push players in a way that they respond. Yet at the same time have the wherewithal to treat players as individuals.
  • Willingness to learn from the owner & Director of Operations.
  • The coach must have the ability to accept direction and take on the tasks assigned by the Head Coach. Your areas of expertise will be taken into consideration when assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to offer fresh ideas & thoughts in practices & games.
  • In-game acumen is a must
  • Must get to know the team as a unit and the players individually.
  • Passion and desire for the game and a willingness to give back.
  • Coaches must be present on the field both in practice & the games. In other words, being fully aware of what is going on at every moment of the game and giving instruction and encouragement.
  • The ability to create and run practices effectively, teaching all facets of the game on both defense & offense.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to.

  • Running or assisting with running practices and activities.
  • Help lead the team in game preparation & in games
  • Travel to all tournaments in state or out of state. Head Coaches will be reimbursed for hotel expenses only. HC will bunk with their assistant coach unless it is a female.
  • Help plan out all outdoor practices in advance using a gamechanger at least 2 weeks out.
  • Coaches must always be teaching & learning.
  • Coaches must fit our culture "Improvement, Development, Growth & Welfare of our players is our Number 1 priority".
  • Making effective lineups with plans for in-game changes before they happen.
  • Be prepared well before the start of the game and have a knack for being able to change on the fly.
  • Manage a pitching staff not only in an effective manner but also following our strict pitch count / rest guidelines laid out by the American Sports Medicine Institute
  • Attend & help with all summer tryouts for the next season.

Our coaches are held to a very high standard of teaching the game. Winning, although certainly the objective, is not the most important goal.

We want each player to get better every day. We want them to be able to actualize their full potential. We want to get them to the next level before the next level comes.

We strive for great team chemistry, camaraderie & unity. The Coaches must lead by example and come up with ways to bring the team together.

Our player's goals are our goals. If we do not get them to achieve their goals, then we fail.

We have several zero-tolerance policies that are in a contract that must be signed. Some of those are not yelling, screaming, demeaning, or degrading a player.

No physical exercise as a punishment. Physical activities such as running, or some exercises as a team, that are part of the planned practices are fine.

However, this must be approved by the Director of Operations. There will be No favoritism. Mandatory to follow our pitch count guidelines and manage a pitching staff effectively, so that no one or two pitchers carry the brunt of the pitching.

No screaming or arguing with opposing coaches or umpires. Do not question umpires on balls & strikes. Protect players at all costs.

Teaching and demonstrating Sportsmanship at all times.
