Vecino Group is Hiring a Move-In Specialist - Supportive Housing Near Ithaca, NY

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Human Services Provider to join our team in providing support services within our supportive housing program. The move-in specialist will play a crucial role in assisting individuals who are moving into a rental unit following an experience of homelessness. The Move-In specialist will provide person-centered support, advocacy, and linkages with community resources with the aim of promoting housing stability for the people they serve. The Move-In Specialist will support tenants Arthaus and Asteri through community partnerships. The Move-In Specialist will be available on-site to provide light-touch case management. This is a grant-funded pilot position ending in early 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Relationship Building and Assessment:
? Develop relationships with tenants, staff, and community organizations
designed to foster clear communication.
? Identify participants who opt-in to services using a referral system or through
self-enrollment.
? Assess the individual needs of participants using evidence-based tools
2. Resource Referral and Advocacy:
? Connect participants with community resources, including mental health
services, substance abuse treatment, employment assistance, healthcare, and
legal aid.
? Advocate on behalf of participants to access housing, entitlements, and other
necessary services.
? Collaborate with external agencies, organizations, and government entities to
ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
? Provide a community connection to outside funders, other service agencies,
and elected officials.
3. Housing Assistance:
? Assist clients in accessing and maintaining stable housing, including,
completing housing applications, and navigating landlord-tenant relationships.
? Provide education on tenant rights, budgeting, and household management to
promote housing retention.
? Address housing-related issues such as eviction prevention, lease violations,
and housing discrimination.
? Oversee funding for housing assistance to clients.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
? Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessments,
service plans, progress notes, and outcomes.
? Compile data and prepare reports on program activities, client demographics,
and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders as required.
Qualifications:
? Previous experience working in supportive housing, homeless services, or
related social service field preferred.
? Knowledge of housing resources, mental health services, substance abuse
treatment, and community-based support programs.
? Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients
from diverse backgrounds.
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
? Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
? Commitment to social justice, advocacy, and empowering marginalized
populations.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic record-keeping systems.
Benefits:
? Competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary range is
$43,000 to $50,000 (annually)
