The Security Officer provides security services to VCUHS by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients; enforcing rules and regulations of the hospitals; projecting a positive image; and promoting a safe healthcare environment. The Security Officer conveys an image of professionalism, behaving in a way that is conducive to good hospital and community relations. This is an unarmed, non-sworn security position. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A Experience REQUIRED: Previous knowledge of security and/or law enforcement measures and techniques at a level generally acquired during 6 to 12 months of on-the-job training and orientation in such techniques or college curriculum in Administration of Justice Experience PREFERRED: One (1) year of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent Education/training PREFERRED: Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field Independent action(s) required: De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team. Prevent potentially risky and/or violent situations.
