Vascular Surgery Nurse Program Coordinator develops, coordinates, and manages clinical and administrative activities related to the Vascular Surgery Division. This job will support the clinical efforts across the outpatient domains of care across all locations. The position collaborates with Ambulatory Leadership, Division Chair, Medical Director, and Division Administrator in the development and management of processes to provide safe, timely access to care. This position supports Vascular Surgery at the Ambulatory Care Center in Downtown Richmond. Essential Job Statements The Registered Nurse Program Coordinator of Vascular Surgery will have a working knowledge of outpatient management of patients with vascular disease, including pre-operative and post operative care. Serves as the nursing clinical subject matter expert for outpatient management of vascular surgery patients. Facilitates trainings as needed to improve the vascular surgery knowledge base across all vascular surgery clinic locations. Follows documented physician/licensed provider orders, within the boundaries of the Nurse Practice Act, licensure, and established standards, policies, and practice guidelines. Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources Ensures that all vascular surgery division clinics are prepared in accordance with standards of the division of vascular surgery. This includes but is not limited to coordinating all necessary imaging, obtaining necessary referrals to ensure patients are scheduled into the correct clinic. Ensures that triage of patient calls and or in-basket messages are managed in accordance with division specific standards. Monitors admissions and discharges to ensure that vascular surgery patients are appropriately scheduled for necessary services. Coordinates and prepares materials to support a weekly divisional meeting across vascular surgery. Provides disease and procedure specific education to patients in clinic. Supports care needs of vascular surgery patients in clinic, pre-operatively, and post operatively. Facilitates coordination for vascular access patients across the continuum. Consistently monitors patient satisfaction and customer feedback, taking prompt action on issues striving for service excellence. Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of diversity equity and inclusion programs/initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health. Patient Population Demonstrates knowledge and related competencies of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age, specific needs and to provide the equitable care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Pediatrics (1-12 years) Adolescents (13-17 years) Adults (18-64 years) Geriatrics (65 years and older) Employment Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program Preferred Education: Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program. Licensure/Certification Required: Current Registered Nurse license, BLS Certification. Licensure/Certification Preferred: Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience 3-5 years with a focus in Vascular Surgery, Surgery, or another procedural environment Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Strong communication and time management skills. Reporting to the Vascular Surgery Division Nurse Coordinator this clinician will be the nursing partner to our Vascular Surgery Medical staff, supporting the ambulatory nursing care for their patients across all ambulatory locations.
