Chief Purpose of the Position

The Surgical Assistant will serve as a medical professional that supports an OMFS surgeon or resident during evaluations, surgery, and post-op care. The surgical assistant will prepare the operatory and patient for each patient visit and/or surgery by obtaining the health history, vital signs, the reason for the visit, etc.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

• Knowledge of dental procedures, dental self-care, utilization of materials, instruments, and equipment.
• Knowledge of Moderate IV Sedation
• Knowledge of standard infection control protocols (OSHA).
• Knowledge of daily preventive maintenance of dental instruments, equipment, and accessories.
• Knowledge of techniques used in dental radiography in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Knowledge of dental office administrative procedures and principles of dental office record keeping.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to consistently deliver a high level of customer service with a great attitude.

Education level and experience required:

• 1 years of hands-on clinical experience required
• Sedation training in Moderate IV sedation and nitrous oxide preferred
• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) required
• BLS and CPR certification preferred
• Dental radiology license required
• Dental office experience required
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Computer skills preferred, with experience using
• Microsoft Office Suite and Email

Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
