Role and Responsibilities

The R&D Technician will report to the Lead R&D Engineer. The role will include time at Vartega’s Golden and Denver, CO locations. The R&D Technician will support the development of next-generation recycling processes at Vartega. These processes include mechanical and chemical recycling methods and thermoplastic compounding with recycled materials.

The role will involve:

• Developing and carrying out experiments
• Interpreting experimental results
• Mechanical and chemical recycling development
• Thermoplastic compounding development
• Injection molding development
• Mechanical testing of thermoplastics
• Troubleshooting processes and manufacturing equipment
• Reporting experimental parameters and results
• Documenting the entire research process and results

Requirements

• Independent experimental and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with documenting work via a lab notebook and reporting results in lab reports
• Ability to generate new processes, adapt existing methods, and learn new processes
• Ability to train others in processes
• Experience troubleshooting processes and manufacturing equipment
• Capable of multi-tasking and working both as part of a team and independently
• Must be self-directed and have the ability to work independently and with little supervision
• The ability to work with various personalities and remain calm and courteous in all situations
• Strong problem-solving and problem-resolution skills
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Attentive to detail and well-organized
• Agile and able to adapt to changing circumstances

Preferred Education and Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of manufacturing experience
• Associate degree in engineering/manufacturing
